Independence Month Series: October 31, 1960

Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto and the Premier of Northern Nigeria stated that his government was in full support of private enterprise and would give assistance to any practical scheme drawn up for the industrial growth of the region.

The Federal Public Service Commission announced the appointment of four Nigerians as permanent secretaries in the Federal Public Service. They were Mr L.V. Anionwu, Mr W. Simpson, Mr E.G. Lewis and Mr S.O. Wey.

Dr Azikiwe called for Understanding and co-operation between various tribes in Nigeria.
