A Note on the Historical Flashback Newspaper and the Independence Month Series

So I have come to the end of my independent month series – my very small contribution to celebrate the independence of my country. Hope it was very helpful? I appreciate the Historical Flashback newspaper of making the series possible.

The Historical Flashback Newspaper is a monthly periodical that details historical events in Nigeria and was the main inspiration for the Independence Month Series. It served as a major point of reference for the series.

As an advocate of political and historical consciousness among the general populace I find the Newspaper very helpful as it does not just give important details of historical events but tremendous insights into why the events of today are what they are.

There is a reason why we follow the steps of great men, taking note of the paths that led to their greatness and avoiding the paths that led to their fall. It is because the past helps us make decisions and take actions in the present that define and create our future.

Never listen to people who like to say “forget the past”, because they know not what they say, and are headed for doom – if they take their own advice. The past is to be remembered, to be ingrained on the facades of our hearts and not to be forgotten.

Because human beings in a fundamental sense are the same – if not there would be no point for the theories of psychology and sociology – history always finds a way to repeat itself. To avoid the unfavourable parts of history repeating herself men must possess the knowledge of history, so as to use her to change the course of events for the better.
